The Winner is……….
I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to the 3 couples who entered the contest, and a big shout out to ALL the people who voted for them. Every couple went to great lengths to get votes, everything from sending out bulk e-mail, posting to facebook and I`m sure some people were even paid to vote(just kidding ..honestly), and all votes are well deserved. This contest got so close to being a tie it really scared me, all I could do was think… what would I do…what should I do, but in the end the votes got spread out a “little” bit so I didn`t have to worry about that `Thank God`.
But what I did think about is how great each and every couple is, all your stories were great - sad, funny & inspiring. I wanted to do something for the 2nd and 3rd place winners as well - for all your hard work in getting the votes that got you those spots, so I added a 2nd and 3rd place prize.
After counting the votes 3 times, (I was even couples in my dreams – for real) OK OK……I know, I know enough with the ram-belling and get to the winner – DRUM ROLL PLEASE…….

#1. Jillian Dyke & Jason Farrell
Love at First Sight. Jillian and Jason met online one day when Jillian logged into yahoo and there was …. ottawa_bayman (Jason). Jason’s from a small town in Newfoundland but was living in Ottawa at the time, he was coming home to Newfoundland for a vacation. On July 28th, 2008 Jillian opened her front door and fell in love, there was Jason – they spent 2 full days together – then it was time for Jason to head back to Ottawa. Shortly after Jason sent a text saying “You wanna try and make this work?” Well they made it work. Christmas 2009, Jillian opened a gift from Jason and inside was a love letter, after reading it Jillian looked up to see Jason holding an engagement ring.

#2. Leslie McDonald & Paul Hookey
Love Interrupted. Paul and Leslie have known each other for 13 years. And even though Paul made the moves on Leslie then , she refused as she was afraid of ruining a great friendship, shortly after Paul moved out of the province, and they lost contact. They reconnected 2 years ago and had many late night chats on MSN and Facebook. Things started to blossom as they spent time together when Paul was on leave from the military. A while later due to an unfortunate knee injury Paul had to leave the military and returned home to Newfoundland. From there their relationship grew stronger and they fell more in love with each other more than they could imagine. On Saturday April 3, over supper Paul said ” I’d love to get down and one knee, but you know I can’t. I’ve never loved anyone that way that I love you, and I can’t imagine my life without you in it. I want to be with you and grow old with you and help you raise the girls into beautiful young women”.

#3. Erin & Roger
Roger and Erin met on New Years Eve, and after dancing the night away they exchanged phone numbers. The very next day Roger called Erin and the set up a date to go play pool with some friends, sadly enough this first date ended in disaster. A couple years after that Erin and some friends went to a house party and low and behold there was Roger, that night Erin realized that she missed out on a great guy, when every one left to continue the party downtown and Roger stayed to clean up the messed left behind. Luckly enough a month or so later they ran into each other again (on Roger’s Birthday) all Erin said to him was “You never did call me after our date a few years ago” since then they have been inseperably.

From there I will be doing a blog post on April 12th with all the couples and a little story about them.
